Winter Weather Advisory, 1-3" of snow expected Wednesday

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Champaign County until 6 PM this evening. Snow will begin falling across the area mid-morning, continuing into the afternoon hours. Total accumulations of 1 to 3 inches of snow are expected across Champaign County, with locally heavier amounts possible in some areas where more substantial, localized snow bands occur. Here is the full text from the US National Weather Service Central Illinois:

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow...which is in effect until 6 PM CST this evening.

* TIMING...An initial wave of snow will be moving into west- central Illinois by daybreak, and reach the Indiana border by late morning. A second, more widespread, area of snow will reach west-central Illinois by late morning, and impact east-central Illinois for much of the afternoon.

* MAIN IMPACT...Snow accumulations of 2"-3" inches are anticipated across most of the advisory area by the time the snow ends later this afternoon or this evening. However, locally heavier bands of snow are also possible and would produce higher snow totals.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities...and use caution while driving.
