The Storm Prediction Center's Day 3 outlook valid for Tuesday has Champaign-Urbana very near the 'Marginal Risk' for strong/severe storms. Now that the storm system is being picked up by both the long and mid-range forecast models, there is very little agreement on how far north the warm front and associated severe weather chances will lift. For now, the greatest severe weather threat appears to exist across southern Illinois, likely south of the CU area. Any northward shift in the forecast track of the low pressure center could change that. Non-severe thunderstorms still appear possible in Champaign-Urbana on Tuesday afternoon/evening as a cold front pushes across the area.
