Rain will begin falling in the Champaign-Urbana area late tonight, before mixing with snow during the hours around sunrise. Shortly after sunrise we'll see a switch over to all snow, likely between 9 AM and Noon. Ground temperatures are still quite warm (it was just 60 degrees!) so it will take some time for snow to begin sticking to the ground. That said, we could see a long enough duration of moderate snowfall to accumulate between 1-3" before things quiet down during the mid-afternoon. Things don't end with the snow however - winds will be howling with gusts to 40 mph possible, with temperatures dropping rapidly through the afternoon before bottoming out in the teens Saturday night. Bundle up and stay safe out there as we dip our toes in Winter 2015-2016!
